For more than ten years, the Bioinformatics Core Facility has supported research at the Biomedical Center (BMC) and beyond with reliable, fast and practice-oriented computational data analysis. The unit combines longstanding expertise in functional genomics, proteomics, image analysis and biostatistics with an efficient, collaborative workflow. Projects can be initiated quickly, discussions are straightforward, and consultation is available at any stage of a study. Access to a modern high-performance computing (HPC) environment ensures rapid processing even for large-scale datasets.
What we offer
- Strategic consultation
Guidance on experimental design, data analysis strategies and project planning to ensure robust and reproducible results. - Project Collaboration
Hands-on bioinformatics support for research groups, from initial data processing to advanced modelling and interpretation. - Research network support
Centralized bioinformatics services for coordinated research consortia, enabling harmonized analysis pipelines and shared standards. - Embedded scientist model
For projects with substantial computational needs, a dedicated facility member works closely with the research group and performs analyses under supervision, ensuring continuity, efficiency and methodological consistency. - Training and capacity building
a) Courses in biostatistics for institutes, networks and PhD programmes.
b) Short-term individual training opportunities and small project supervision for students, postdocs and PIs (subject to availability). - High-performance computing
Access to a high performance computational cluster (HPC) optimized for bioinformatics workloads, including large-scale sequencing and multi-omics analyses.
Our goal
To empower researchers with reliable, high-quality computational support that accelerates scientific discovery and strengthens data-driven research at the BMC and beyond.
